Using Insurance at KindestMind

Options for Getting Coverage

Can you bill my insurance?

At KindestMind, we don’t bill insurance directly, but we can still help you use your benefits in two ways: through a superbill or sometimes through a letter of agreement with prior authorization from your insurance.

If you’re planning to use insurance, just let us know when you book your appointment. We’ll guide you through it and help you locate the paperwork you will need.

We’ll assist with the insurance process as much as possible, including helping with prior authorizations, but in some cases, clients may need to contact their insurance directly or submit forms themselves.

Option 1. Superbill

If your insurance plan includes out-of-network mental health coverage, we’ll give you a superbill after your appointment.

This is like a detailed receipt that you can send to your insurance company to ask for reimbursement. It includes everything they need—your provider’s info, your diagnosis, session details, and codes.

Here’s what to ask your insurance company:

  • Do I have out-of-network mental health benefits?
  • Will you reimburse for CPT codes like 90791 or 96130?
  • Do I need to get prior authorization?

Option 2. Single Case Agreement

Sometimes, even if we’re not in-network, your insurance might approve us for a one-time exception. This is called a “Single Case Agreement” or “Out-of-Network Accommodations”

To try this option, you or your KindestMind clinician would contact your insurance company and ask for prior authorization. Explain why you’re requesting to see us—like if there aren’t other providers nearby or you need help quickly.

If approved, your insurance may reimburse more or even pay us directly.

Some things you should know:

  • Clients can call their insurer and verbally request a prior authorization, but these are often denied due to missing documentation.
  • It is more effective if the KindestMind clinician fills out a prior authorization form with the correct CPT codes, diagnosis, and clinical rationale.
  • We recommend that KindestMind submits these forms on behalf of the client, after verifying the client has out-of-network benefits. This avoids delays, retroactive reviews, or the need for appeals.
